In April 2012, the Presidents and Prime-Ministers of the Western Hemisphere will gather at the Sixth Summit of the Americas in Cartagena, Colombia, to discuss the most pressing issues facing the region and to propose concrete solutions. The Summit Talk provides a useful forum for the citizens of the Americas to share their ideas and recommendations, helping to enrich the debate on key issues that will be discussed by our heads of state at the Summit.
The Summit Talk: Hemispheric Cooperation to Promote Security will be open to participation from January 16 until February 6* and will focus in discussion topics related to citizen security and transnational organized crime.
This virtual forum is the forth of a five virtual consultations that will be held in preparation for the Sixth Summit of the Americas A summary of its results will be compiled and made available to Summit Stakeholders. In addition, specific recommendations from the virtual forum will contribute to an official recommendation document that will be presented to OAS Member States for their consideration during one of the meetings of the Summit Implementation Review Group (SIRG).
*After this date the forum will remain open until March/2012 in order to allow the discussion continuity between participants, which might not be moderated.
